Description

Invesco Physical Gold ETC is a commodities ETF from Invesco tracking the Physical gold (LBMA) index through physical (full) replication. Domiciled in Ireland and launched in 2009, the fund manages about 23 bn € and charges a TER of 0.12% — 12 € per year on a €10,000 investment. Income is automatically reinvested in the fund (accumulating).

The fund in context

Invesco Physical Gold ETC competes with 2 other products on the same index (Physical gold (LBMA)): it ranks 2nd by fund size and 1st by ongoing cost, with a TER of 0.12% against a group median of 0.12%. It has been listed since 2009, 17 years of track record.

On a €10,000 investment the TER costs 12 € a year, and no product in the group costs less.

This is an ETC, not a UCITS fund: a debt security backed by the physical commodity actually held in custody. There is no basket of shares to replicate — the value tracks the price of the underlying.

It pays no income: the underlying commodity produces none, so the value depends solely on its price. The fund is denominated in USD, the currency the commodity itself is priced in: for a euro investor the currency exposure follows that, not the trading currency of any individual listing.

The fund is domiciled in Ireland, which determines the tax treatment of income received by the fund and the supervisory authority.
